“There are two goddesses in your heart,” he told them. “The Goddess of Wisdom and the Goddess of Wealth. Everyone thinks they need to get wealth first, and wisdom will come. So they concern themselves with chasing money. But they have it backwards. You have to give your heart to the Goddess of Wisdom, give her all your love and attention, and the Goddess of Wealth will become jealous, and follow you.”
Ask nothing from your running, in other words, and you’ll get more than you ever imagined.
I just really liked this quote after I saw it in the book Born to Run.
Right after it was done. Said by sir Roger Bannister, first man to run a sub 4 minute mile.

Don’t these look like McDonald shoes? I was going to write this whole long post about my search for perfect running shoes but then I thought, who cares about my posterior tibial tendonitis and flat feet and running barefoot? So long story short, I bought these because my existing brooks running shoes are nice, but just too cumbersome for speed work. These are competition flats (“Green Silence” by Brooks), and they’re amazing. I took them on a short two mile run on a whim yesterday and it was like running on clouds. They are LIGHT. They are only about 3oz lighter than my Dyads but you can definitely feel the difference.

What a great run today. Though I wonder how accurate my speed was. I ran with Jasmine to the dog park on the other side of downtown, and she got to play with a great dane puppy. This is literally the only dog that Jasmine has ever gotten annoyed at — she even barked and nipped at him, but I think they had fun “playing.” Jasmine still had enough energy to trudge through four more miles after that and we ran towards Allen Parkway and back through downtown.
I’ve just finished Born to Run so I’ve been focusing on being more zen with my running instead of trying to drown out the pain with music or distractions. So today I had a really good run, sans music, taking in the scenery and making up the route as I went along. It worked out well. My legs weren’t in any pain. The only annoyance was a small blister on my arch that seems to pop up every time I run more than four miles.
4.5 miles / 50:25 minutes.
not bad for no running in three months.
