Well crap. I’ve been meaning to write a little race recap on my first ever trail run but I’ve been super busy with other stuff. (Big news/changes are coming soon I think. But I don’t want to spill the beans until it’s a done deal.)
Long story short, I was swinging on the swing sets before the race and decided to jump off mid-swing. I landed weirdly and my right foot felt like it was bruised. Running 10K after that, in the woods, with old running shoes didn’t help. The race itself was fine. It’s kind of fun to say, yeah I ran six miles, in the woods, in the dark like you’re some kind of bad ass. But it was literally my worst 10K time ever by at least 10 minutes. Lots of factors contributed to this outcome including the fact that during parts of the race, the trail was so crowded, you had to slow down to a power-walk. Not kidding. It was fun to finish and hang out, drink beer and eat barbecue afterwards though.
The bruising like pain in my foot keeps persisting every time I run so I’m guessing it’s probably a stress fracture. Which means I should take at least six weeks off running to heal. Boyfriend is already planning so many bike rides to get me up to tip top bike racing shape. I absolutely refuse. Cycling in Houston sometimes makes me fear for my life with all the idiot drivers that don’t pay attention.
