So I paid over $8,000 out of pocket for school tuition last year. That’s right — out of my own pocket, no student loans, parents, or anything — and the maximum deduction I can make is $2500.
Here’s the thing — even if I only paid $2500 for tuition, my deduction would have been the same. What the hell IRS — I think people who pay more should be able to deduct more.
