This morning I was taking the Katy Tollway HOV to get to a meeting downtown. As usual, there was a police guy with a radar gun parked on the sidelines to make sure there was no speeding. I didn’t see this particular cop until I was about 60 feet away and I started slowing down ever so slowly. I was still speeding when when I was 30 feet away and he just gave me this gesture like “Come on, Lady. You see me standing here.” All I did was shrug apologetically and mouth “Sorry!” I did slow down afterwards, but I find it funny that he didn’t pull me over. He just looked at my car pass with some confusion, almost like he was debating whether he should pull me over or not.
So let this be a lesson to you. If you see a cop looking, and you two make obvious eye contact, just keep on trucking. I once got pulled over, was apologetic and even got tears to flow and it got me nothing. AND it was Christmas too. It seems like the better strategy is to just confuse them.
