I wrote an e-mail to my professor about the problems I’ve been having with the TA grading my papers and this is how our conversation went:
Me: Professor, I keep receiving low marks for certain parts of my papers even though I think they’re correct. *insert 4 specific questions citing parts of my paper* Could you give me any specific tips on improvement?
Professor: No, it is not incorrect and I will review your paper. Sometimes the graders make mistakes. Sorry!
She “reviewed” my paper and gave me back one point (out of 20) for ONE thing that I asked about. It really reminds me when you talk to tech support, give them 20 questions and only get one of them answered.
Now I have another paper due in a few days, and I’m really discouraged from writing it. Because it seems that no matter what I do, I’ll get low marks and nobody, not even the professor, will explain to me specifically why.
